Acerola is a natural source of vitamin C; this vitamin is involved in the physiology of the nervous system, improving the support and structure of neurons, the processes of differentiation, maturation and neuronal survival, catecholamine synthesis and neurotransmission modulation.

Longer plasma levels of vitamin C

Compared to ingestion of synthetic vitamin C, ingestion of Acerola maintains higher and longer plasma levels of vitamin C, with reduced urinary excretion. A meta-analysis in children (3135 children aged 3 months to 18 years) showed that Vitamin C intake significantly reduced the duration of upper respiratory tract infection.
